Tattoo Removal Program at Southwest General Hospital

Decorating the body is a popular form of self-expression and tattoos are seen on the young and mature alike. The problem is that what seemed like a good idea at the time often leads to regrets. A name of a past love permanently inscribed in a prominent place can be a disturbing item in an otherwise happy relationship. Gang signs from a past life cause problems, tattooed hands and fingers often keep an otherwise able bodied person from getting and keeping a good job and supporting a family. Just as the times and whims of the day pass, the desire to have and hold a tattoo often fade.

Southwest General Hospital has a successful tattoo removal program. The Alamo Area Tattoo Removal Program has been in existence at Southwest General Hospital for more than 7 years, and meets on the first Saturday of every month in the classrooms at 10 am.

Tattoo removal for persons aged 21 and under is free. Persons over 21 are asked to make a $50 donation that covers some equipment maintenance.

For information about the program, call 921-2000 and ask for to Loretta Kent, RN.
