Southwest General Hospital was the first in Texas to receive Certificate of Distinction for our Inpatient Diabetes Care program from the Joint Commission. To earn this distinction, the program is evaluated against Joint Commission standards through an assessment of a program’s processes, the program’s ability to evaluate and improve care within its own organization, and interviews with patients and staff.
Southwest General Hospital’s Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Center has achieved accreditation by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. The Center becomes one of only two civilian hospitals in San Antonio that is accredited by the UHMS.
Southwest General Hospital has been recognized as the only San Antonio hospital to receive the Maternity Care Excellence Award™ in a maternity care report issued by HealthGrades, the nation’s leading independent healthcare ratings company. This makes it the third year in a row for the hospital to be honored with this prestigious recognition. In addition, Southwest General Hospital ranked in the Top 10% of hospitals nationally for maternity care, and received a five-star rating for clinical excellence in maternity care services.
